I.IK rating testing is what?
IK is the shock and protection grade of the device shell. Generally, the protection requirements of IK and IP are both present. For outdoor electronic devices, whether suspended, buried or ordinary outdoor placement, they need corresponding IP and IK requirements. The IK test is determined by the Joule free fall impact of the pendulum. The specific reference standards for the protection of mechanical collisions from the outside of electrical equipment shells (IK code)
LISUN IK07-10 Pendulum Impact Hammer Tester is produced in accordance with IEC60068-2-75 “Environmental testing – Part 2-75: Tests – Test Eh: Hammer tests” <Clauss 5 Test Eha: Pendulum hammer> and GB/T2423.55 standard requirements, applicable Tests to assess the robustness of products in accordance with electrical safety provisions. This test device is widely used in the IK strength test of the shell of lighting products ( IEC60598, GB7000.1, EN50102), the mechanical impact strength test of metal sheets such as substation cabinets, non-metal power cabinets and outdoor equipment.
II.The purpose of the IK rating test
IK rating testing is a test to prove that the product casing will not be damaged internally when it experiences a collision. This standard only stipulates that the shell meets the corresponding product standards in all other aspects when used in the expected use, and from the perspective of material and process, it should ensure the indicated protection level under normal use conditions. The test must be performed to confirm whether the shell meets the requirements of this standard.
III.The applicable scope of the IK rating testing
The range of IK grade application includes computers, electronic communications, electrical appliances and other packaging boxes, transportation equipment, etc.
IV.Verification of Mechanical Impact Protection Test
The mechanical collision protection test verification is that when the test shell is installed on a rigid support seat according to the manufacturer’s instructions, when a collision force corresponding to the protection grade of the test shell is directly applied to the support seat, a displacement less than or equal to 0.lmm is considered as having sufficient rigidity. Other installation and support methods applicable to the products can be specified in the relevant product standards, such as IK code in 20138 electrical equipment casing to external mechanical collision protection grade.
V.Test methods and test standards
The electrical appliance shell is usually made of plastic, metal, glass and other materials, and often subjected to collision, squeezing and other forces. If the shell is not strong enough or damaged during use, it may cause short circuit of the internal circuit of the appliance or leakage accidents, resulting in electric shock, fire and other serious accidents.
Therefore, the impact test of electrical equipment casing can help to detect the strength, toughness and wear resistance of the casing, ensure that the electrical equipment can remain intact when subjected to external shocks, and prevent damage and leakage.
1. Test device
1) IK vertical impact tester
2) Test use
It is used for testing the impact resistance of household and similar electronic electrical appliance products and their accessories, as well as the housing and lamps of similar devices, to evaluate the safety performance and strength level of the products.
3) Test principle
According to EHC test: vertical hammer, impact element is guided by a tube with a certain height to fall freely, impact the sample in the vertical direction, through the transformation of gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy, to achieve the purpose of impact test of the sample.
4) Testing device
The impact element can be guided by a pipe with negligible restraint. The guide tube shall not come into contact with the specimen and keep the hammerbody free to fall. In order to reduce friction, the length of the impact element shall not be less than the diameter and maintain a proper gap with the pipe.
2. Spring impacts are composed of three parts.
A, the shell. Including housing, impact element guide and release mechanism and components fixed to these components.
B, impact element. Including hammerhead, hammer rod and firing handle.
C, release cone body. Equipment packing size: about: 450*120*120 (mm) W*D*H, equipment weight: 3kg
VI.IK Testing standard
1. Test requirements: specifies the requirements for IK protection level testing
1) Know how to install the test item, ventilation requirements, the number and distribution of impact hammers and the corresponding impact hammer for each level
2) Understand the application of the IK code, usually the protection level is applicable to the overall housing. If certain parts of the housing have different protection levels, the corresponding protection level should be indicated.
2. The product standards should also specify the marking methods used in the following cases:
1) The protection level of a certain part of the same housing is different from that of other parts;
2) The installation state will affect the protection level of the housing.
3. IK Test Rating
