How to Use a Goniophotometer to Test LED Ceiling Lights

The Goniophotometer is the main measuring device for the light distribution performance test of lamps and lanterns, which can be used to measure the spatial light intensity distribution, total luminous flux and efficiency of lamps and lanterns. The composition of the Goniophotometer system includes: precision turntable and control system, spectral analysis system, standard lamp, alignment system, computer processing system and other parts.

The Goniophotometer need to be used in conjunction with larger anechoic chambers, using low reflective materials in the room to prevent reflected light from entering the probe. Since the measurement system is susceptible to ambient temperature, it is critical to maintain the stability of the light source’s own temperature. The Goniophotometer reads each angle by angle, which is time-consuming. If only the luminous flux parameters of the luminaire need to be measured, there are no strict requirements for the measuring distance.

How to Use a Goniophotometer to Test LED Ceiling Lights?
According to the measurement of different optical path arrangements, the measurement of luminous flux can be used illuminance integration method and light intensity integration method two measurement schemes:
1. Illuminance integral method. There is no limit to the measurement distance and less measurement space is required. As long as the illuminance can be measured, even if the distance is very short, the exact total luminous flux can be obtained. It can be measured using a compact distributed photometer, which measures the illuminance distribution of the light source in space and integrates the total luminous flux into the whole space. The CIE recommends the method of achieving luminous flux reference units because it is insensitive to the measurement distance and the installation position of the light source, and the use of mirrors can be avoided, which enables high measurement accuracy.

2. Light intensity integration method. The luminous intensity integration method measures the light intensity distribution of the light source in space and integrates the total luminous flux into the whole space. Measuring the light intensity distribution requires a sufficient distance to be able to approximate the analyte as a point light source, and to measure the light intensity using the inverse square ratio relationship of distance.

The Goniophotometer is mainly divided into: lamp rotation type, detector rotation type, lamp fixed type.
