Application:
The horizontal and vertical  flame tester UL94 is mainly used to determine the combustion performance of plastic, rubber or film under a specified fire source to determine its fire resistance level. It is not only suitable for the research, production and quality inspection departments of electrical and electronic plastic or rubber products and their components such as lighting equipment, low-voltage electrical appliances, household appliances, motors, tools, meters and other equipment, and electrical connectors, but also for insulation materials and engineering Plastics, fire-proof sealing materials type approval or other solid combustible materials industry.

UL94 horizontal and vertical flame test method:
In the case of HB classification for horizontal combustion test, the sample size is required to be 125mm in length, 13mm in width, and no more than 13mm in thickness. The sample should be placed horizontally, the sample clamp is clamped to one end of the sample, and the ignition device is at a 45-degree angle to keep the flame position unchanged. Apply 30±1S to the other end of the sample holder, and place a metal mesh and a freely movable fixed frame horizontally under the sample holder, so that when the sample is burned, the free end and the metal mesh are kept 10mm.

In order to avoid fire, it is necessary to test and evaluate the product in many aspects, such as the LED spacing, the structure and materials of the diffuser, the type and installation position of the housing, and the working method, etc. Although we used Class2 power supplies to limit the energy of the product to avoid or reduce fires when designing the product, according to UL’s past experience, this type of product may still reach a high temperature above 90°C (US National Building Code). It is stipulated that the temperature of equipment installed on the surface of ordinary combustible materials shall not exceed 90℃). Therefore, when designing LED lighting products, this aspect should be taken into consideration, and the temperature test needs to be passed (the surface temperature of each component in the lighting should be within its own rated temperature range).
