LISUN LSG-1200A Compact Goniophotometer– After-sales Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The LSG-1200A compact goniophotometer is used to measure the luminous intensity distribution curve, intensity data, beam angle and other photometric parameters for Chip LED, LED Module, LED Spotlight and all other light which spread angle is no more than 180 degree.

Optional function: The LSG-1200A can work with a Digital Power Meter (LS2012 DC & AC Power Meter or LS2010 Harmonic Analyzer) and LSP-500VAR AC Power Source.

Q1: The software cannot communicate 
A1: The goniophotometer is connected to the computer via an RS232 communication cable or RS232-USB converter cable. If you use an RS232-USB converter, you need to install the driver of the converter cable.

Q2: When the software runs for the first time, you may need to run configuration first
A2: You can find this option in the start menu below.

Click the button “Auto find port” for LSG-1200A as shown in the figure below, and the software will find the correct COM port for LSG-1200A automatically. Then you can use the LSG-1200A software.

Q3: About electrical parameters
A3: The LSG-1200A itself does not include the digital power meter function. If you need to get the electrical parameters, you need to buy an digital power meter. If you buy it from us, you can also connect it to the computer through our RS232 or RS232-USB cable, and select the corresponding model in the following figure and automatically search for its port:

After successful communication, the electrical parameters of the sample can be automatically displayed in the test report.

Q4: About power supply
A4: LSG-1200A does not contain power supply. The client needs to prepare the power supply for the sample. If you purchase AC or DC power supply from us, you can also connect the power supply to the computer through RS232 or RS232-USB cable, and then control the AC or DC power supply from the software. 

If it is a power supply of other brands, you need to manually control the output.

Q5: The following prompts are encountered when start the test:

A5: This prompt is that the C angle displayed on the sofware is not at 0 degrees. According to the actual situation, if the lamp is currently installed at its 0 degree position, then just click YES, the software will directly set the current C -axis angle to 0 and start the test directly. Otherwise, click NO, the software will turn the C axis back 0 degrees according to the displayed angle value, and then start the test.

Q6: How to test double-sided luminous lamps?
A6: LSG-1200A can only test the lamp within 180 degrees in the Gamma angle. If the lamp shines on both sides, you can turn on two sides separately, and run two tests. Note: Two tests need to use the same C -angle range and interval, and also the same G -angle range and interval.  Then two .igf files were generated.

You can combine two .igf files and generate new .igf files to display the double-sided light distribution data and total light flux in the one single file.

Q7: About calibration and test distance
A7: The position of LSG-1200A probe is fixed, and calibration is not required. As shown in the figure below, there are two positions in the darkroom where the probe can be fixed.

Generally, the detector is fixed at the far field, and the test distance is 1m. If it is necessary to move the detector to the near field to test a single LED or weak light source, manually change the test distance below to 0.317 m.

Q8: No data in UGR table
A8: See the figure below. You need to enter the size of the light-emitting surface in the left column, and then the software can automatically calculate the UGR table.
